At Manera, we’re honored to partner with Freeline Surf Shop, delivering Manera gear through their historic Santa Cruz location.
Founded in 1969 by surfboard shaper John Mel and his wife Kim, Freeline has been family-owned and community-driven for more than 50 years. What started as a small space for John’s custom boards has grown into a cornerstone of Santa Cruz surf culture.
Today, the shop is run by Peter Mel, world-renowned big wave surfer, and his wife Tara, alongside their sons John and Anthony—a true multi-generation surf family.
We’re proud to have Manera represented in a shop that embodies authenticity, craftsmanship, and the spirit of the ocean.
Dane Reynolds needs no introduction in the surfing world. Born and bred in southern California, Dane is known for his “go for broke”, intuitive, progressive and explosive style, making him one of the most exciting and imaginative surfers today.

Dusty has been chasing waves since the age of three, growing up on the beaches of Vancouver Island with surfing in his blood. Living off Tofino’s rugged coast, he thrives in the icy waters of Cox Bay, welcoming the challenge of cold conditions with a thick wetsuit and a smile. Inspired by his dad @raphbruhwiler, Canada’s first pro surfer and a legend in the country’s surf community, Dusty skillfully balances progression with fun. At just 14, he has already logged countless hours in the ocean and loves to share the stoke with friends and family.

Edo Tanas is truly the undisputed king of SUP Downwind foiling, as he won the first SoCal SUP Downwind Foil Race in Malibu, completing the 10-mile course in 36:12. Big up to Luca Vuillermet, who also completed the race and finished 24th in 01:09:40.

Josh Gillitt made his debut at the Red Bull Megaloop Challenge 2025 in Noordwijk, Netherlands, and powered his way into the quarter finals! The event brings together the world’s best Big Air kiteboarders for a rare and extreme showdown, judged on extremity, execution, and flow.

17 tricks, nine lives, one Maxime Chabloz. Maxime took on the ultimate freestyle challenge in Portrait’s “Nine Lives” series. With 17 iconic tricks and just nine tries in total, the reigning World Champ attempted each one of them and landed 14 to claim the win!
Ian Fontaine won the second stage of the Banque Populaire Surf Tour, a leg of the French Open circuit, at home in La Torche. The Breton, winner of the Interclubs two weeks ago, had not won an individual title in eight years. Congratulations Ian!
What does it really take to score good waves? This surf documentary-meets-comedy breakdown is essentially a love letter to the strange pursuit of good waves and the absurd lengths we go for them. Our very own Brendon Gibbens was part of this unique adventure and scored some pretty sick waves.
U.S surfer and junior national team member Marlynn Glaub has been on a roll recently, going from one competition to the next. A few days ago, she claimed the second place at the NSSA Nationals! Congratulations!
Cash Souter is an Outer Banks grom with a passion for surfing, skating, and protecting the ocean. Cash started competing in 2020 and quickly made a name for himself with his constant stoke and willingness to charge hard on every wave.
Ryan Leopold is all about chasing barrels and keeping it real, literally. A core member of the REAL Watersports crew, Ryan is the go-to guy when it comes to testing surfboards, creating content and sharing his feedback with the community.

The End of the World won the Audience Award at the International Feature Film Competition of the Brest Surf Film Festival! Three of the athletes featured in the film – Ian Fontaine, Yann Quilfen and Malo Jouanneau – were in Brest to attend the showing of the movie as well.
We have been encouraging our athletes to make the most of their own backyards and homespots, to show that you sometimes don’t need to go far to have fun.
Luckily, they’ve been keen on taking us all along for the ride on their local adventures.
This month, Sanna, or shall we say “a coastal creature of habit”, went on a surf trip worthy of a BBC nature documentary. Watch with the sound on. Over in California, Luca spent the night by one of his favorite spots to make sure he would be the first one in the water the next day.
Congratulations to María Catalina Turienzo, a local athlete from Argentina, who finished fourth in the Open Trophy ranking of the 2025 Formula Kite European Championships in Türkiye.

Ian Fontaine and his surf club team 29hood have become the new 2025 French Interclub Champions! This title earns them a place to represent France and Brittany at the Interclub World Championships, which will take place in Australia in early 2026.
Congratulations also to the club’s second team, which included Malo Jouanneau, who finished fifth!

Since Rippin’ Rosie and her human are now part of the local MANERA U.S. team, we might seriously need to start thinking about a Hot Dog Magma line. What do you think? One thing is for sure, she’s scoring a lot more than we are over here in the Mediterranean.
